Parasurama Temple at Thiruvallam, in Thiruvananthapuram district is famous because people from all over Kerala, and the world malayalees come here to conduct Pithrutharpanam. The temple is located at the confluence of three rivers Karamana river, Parvathy puthanaar and Killiyaar. The place is known as Triveni Sangamam and considered as holy place by Sanadhana Dharma followers. For generations people come here to perform pithrutharppanam for their ancestors.
Pithrutharppanam is conducted by immersing in the river water. At present nobody can enter water because it is polluted. Garbage and sewerage from three rivers accumulate in the temple and form a cesspool. The waterbody is to be restored to its pristine glory for the benefit of believers so that pithrutharppanam can continue without health hazards.
Hindu Seva Samaj is taking the initiative to conscientize the public and government about the issue and to seek solutions.
According to the legend the land mass of Kerala was resurrected from sea by Lord Parasurama. When his own temple is immersed in pollution the well being of Kerala and India is affected. Bharathmatha stands with her foot in Kerala. When prosperity will be achieved with the cleaning of this river at Thiruvallam, Thirvananthapuram, Kerala.
Your generous financial support is urgently required for this ambitious project.
The holy place has now become severely polluted from dumping of garbage and sewage into it, destroying the sanctity of the river and thereby rendering it unusable for rituals. The Hindu Seva Samaj has taken up the initiative to bring the problem to the attention of the authorities and public like, to develop a solution based action plan for improving the current state of the rivers.
